Civil Partnerships

The Civil Partnership Act came into force on 5 December 2005. This Act enabled same-sex couples to formalise their relationship. Since that time those in a civil partnership have enjoyed similar rights and responsibilities to married couples. That means that, should the relationship break down, the same factors which influence how finance is settled on divorce will influence a financial settlement for civil partners.

At Jones Myers LLP we shall be happy to discuss the implications of civil partnership with those contemplating such a step, or those emerging from a fractured relationship. Such considerations may include not only finances but children. Our specialist Children Team is on hand to advise and provide support in relation to all children issues.
