Our Services
Direct communication about outstanding issues and difficulties may be possible for some couples, if facilitated and encouraged by a mediator.
A mediator’s role is not to advise the couple concerned as to the “right” outcome but to help the couple to address for themselves the challenges presented by their particular circumstances. Couples often use our mediation service as a way to explore, discuss and resolve the issues between them, welcoming the impartial input and experience which our mediator brings to the discussion.
At Jones Myers LLP, our whole approach to relationship breakdown seeks to minimise the emotional and financial costs associated with what is, more often than not, a stressful and challenging time for those involved. Because many issues are resolved quickly and constructively during mediation, couples often find that they save a great deal in legal costs by opting for mediation first.

This is an innovative and highly successful approach to resolving issues arising from separation. Clients and their lawyers embark on a series of meetings together. The purpose is to identify, address and resolve outstanding issues with the aim of mapping out a fair agreement. If required, other professionals such as accountants or independent financial advisors may be invited to attend these meetings to provide assistance.
At the start of the process, clients and their family lawyers agree to resolve their issues and reach a settlement without going to court. Instead the parties agree to work through family and financial difficulties together.
Each party appoints their own collaboratively trained lawyer at the outset. Here at Jones Myers LLP we have a team of collaboratively trained lawyers who are committed to and experienced in this approach.
Clients who have resolved issues with their partners using the CFL process have found the benefits immense. People feel more in control over their future and often benefit from improved levels of communication with their partner. Agreements are often reached more quickly and creatively than those imposed by the court process.
For more information concerning the CFL process, please contact Norman Taylor, Fiona Kendall, Richard Peaker or Andrew Fox.
