Fantastic Fiona wins Women in Business accolade
We’re immensely proud to announce that Jones Myers partner Fiona Kendall has won the Professional Services Woman of the Year Award for 2012.
Now in their third year, the Forward Ladies’ Women in Business Awards recognise the achievements of professional business women across the North of England in 12 separate categories. Fiona won the professional services accolade for Yorkshire and The Humber.
Fiona’s achievements are many and have undoubtedly been pivotal to her success both at Jones Myers and in the awards. Qualifying as a collaborative lawyer in 2005, Fiona champions the collaborative family law (CFL) process which avoids the trauma of court proceedings, as well as being a qualified mediator.
A founder member and committee member of CFL North, an umbrella group dedicated to good practice for collaborative family law groups across the north of England, Fiona is also a past vice-chair of the Family Law Association in Scotland and a long-standing member of the national association Resolution.
One of the first UK lawyers to train in collaborative law and the first family lawyer practising in Scotland to be dual qualified in Scots and English law, Fiona is co-author of two books on cohabitation, advises on cross-border family law issues and is fluent in French. Individually ranked by the Chambers Legal Guide, Fiona receives praise from clients for her “attentiveness and sympathetic approach to their cases”.
A people champion, at Jones Myers Fiona is heading a new family performance management programme where every partner mentors and appraises a ‘family’ of four or more employees. For the last decade Fiona has been a trustee of a Zambian programme boosting educational opportunities and supporting communities to be more self-sufficient, volunteering and raising funds for this and an educational programme in Rwanda.
