Jones Myers is celebrating retaining its tier 1 ranking in Yorkshire in the illustrious Chambers legal guide – with more family law solicitors ranked in the guide compared to any other law firm in Yorkshire.

Founder Peter Jones and director Richard Peaker retain their individual Band 1 ranking with partner and head of the Children Department Kate Banerjee and collaborative law guru Norman Taylor  also retaining their individual rankings.

Hailing Jones Myers as “A genuinely brilliant firm” with “A technically good and a strong team,” Chambers describes the practice as: “A widely respected client boutique with a strong family law offering which houses several high-profile advisers who focus on both high-value matrimonial finance and private law children cases, frequently for high net worth individuals.“

Richard Peaker – ‘an excellent lawyer’

Chambers says Richard is characterised as an excellent lawyer who deserves to be recognised as a leader in the region.” He is a Resolution-accredited specialist and is recommended for complex financial provision cases.

Also applauded as ‘the firm’s leading light” in the latest Legal 500 guide, Richard, a divorce and financial disputes expert, has amassed extensive expertise with farming and rural communities.

Peter Jones – ‘his experience is probably unbeatable’

A former national chairman of Resolution and a Deputy District Judge for 15 years, Peter founded Jones Myers in 1992 as the first niche family law firm in the north of England on principles of sensitivity and professionalism.

Chambers describes Peter as hugely experienced and resolves matrimonial finance disputes through the courts and using mediation, arbitration and collaborative law. Sources regard him as a “well established and sensible professional,” saying: His experience is probably unbeatable.”

Kate Banerjee – ‘fantastic reputation’

Kate is highly skilled in cases relating to children including contact and residence disputes. She specialises in child protection law and is a Member of the Child Care Panel with experience representing parents, guardians, Local Authorities and children.

Kate has “Higher Court Rights,” something fewer than 2,500 solicitors have in England and Wales, which enables her to offer clients an all-round litigation service.

Chambers says commentators acknowledge Kate’s “fantastic reputation” and “great expertise in her field.

Norman Taylor – ‘very collaborative’

Consultant Norman is a family lawyer with enormous experience involving financial issues arising from family and relationship breakdown.

Acting on a variety of cases from high-value financial relief to childcare, Chambers praises Norman as “very collaborative and having “really good empathy with clients.”

The Chambers accolades come just weeks after Jones Myers’ reputation as a leading niche family law firm – with a wealth of expertise in marriage related issues – was further consolidated in the latest rankings of the Legal 500.

The firm, whose lawyers boast a combined 250 years of legal experience, was recommended by the Legal 500 for its ‘particular expertise in marriage-related issues, including divorce, child residence disputes and pre-nuptial agreements’, along with financial disputes and expertise in disputes over will validity.

In addition to the firm’s family and children teams, Jones Myers also has a class leading contentious probate department led by:

Martin Holdsworth  – singled out for expertise in trust litigation

Chambers praises Martin as being well respected amongst his peers for his dedication. The guide singles him out for his expertise in trust litigation.

Martin is the only contentious probate in Yorkshire that has been individually ranked by Chambers 2016 and as a leading individual in his field by the recent Legal 500

The Legal 500 recommends Martin as a ‘well-known and experienced practitioner’.

Martin heads a team of a further 3 solicitors, a paralegal who work purely and exclusively in the field of contentious probate work.

The team deals with clients on disputes over the validity of a will, the management of trusts, and deals with claims by disappointed beneficiaries either seeking greater provision from a deceased’s estate or responding to claims made by others.
