We’re delighted to mark another milestone in our plans to expand our private client services with the appointment of Martin Holdsworth – a specialist in handling contentious trusts and estates – as partner.

Martin is listed as a key individual in industry ‘bible’ the Chambers Legal Guide for specialising in contentious private client matters. With two decades of expertise in his field, he joins us on March 1 from Gordons LLP where he has headed the Contentious Trust & Estates Team for five years.

Martin says: “The powerful reputation of Jones Myers on a regional, national and international level is second to none. Making the transition to a niche family law firm which offers a full private client service – and which is acknowledged by the Chambers Legal Guide as ‘utterly brilliant’ – provides me with a wealth of potential.

“My preference, wherever possible, is to opt for a settlement which favours mediation over going to trial, mirroring the Jones Myers ethos of promoting settlements which avoid the trauma of courts.”

Says Jones Myers founder Peter Jones, who was among the UK’s first legal experts to qualify as an arbitrator: “Martin’s expertise complements the skills of our matrimonial department and financial remedies team which has been handling financial disputes following the breakdown of marriages, cohabitation disputes, civil partnership dissolutions and all types of nuptial agreements for over two decades. Martin will be instrumental in the continued expansion of our practice and its ever growing portfolio of clients across the UK and further afield.”

Jones Myers champions mediation and collaboration as highly successful, alternative approaches to resolving issues arising from separation. Partners Peter Jones, David McHardy and Fiona Kendall, who is dual qualified in English and Scottish law, are all trained mediators.
