Musical fundraiser strikes right chord for Children’s Heart Surgery Fund

Jones Myers collaborative family law expert, Norman Taylor, has regaled commuters with singing and guitar playing at a festive charity fundraiser in Leeds Railway Station.

Norman’s performance struck the right chord for the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund which provides life-saving medical equipment for the Congenital Heart Unit at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and funds staff training, scientific research and new clinical roles.

No stranger to performing, Norman, a jazz aficionado who has his own group ‘Mid Life Crysis’, sings the fund’s praises after one of his children underwent a heart operation at LGI at the age of 14.

He says: “The standard of care and support we received was outstanding during his stay at the hospital which provides everything from vital resources and equipment to toys and games and goes the extra mile to accommodate families. As a family we can’t thank the committed staff enough and it was great to put something back through this successful fundraiser.”

The family’s previous ventures for the Fund have included Norman’s son, who made a full recovery after his operation, completing a cycling round trip from Leeds to Harrogate and Norman organised a fundraising party with his band for family and friends for his 60th birthday.

As a firm Jones Myers is a champion of giving back to its local communities and has backed the campaigns of wide-ranging organisations over the years.

Initiatives include partnering with IDAS, Yorkshire’s largest specialist charity whose services include refuge accommodation, to host a pioneering art installation highlighting domestic abuse against women at the practice’s Harrogate office. Jones Myers employees also pulled out the festive stops to provide vouchers, food and confectionary along with seasonal parcels for mothers and children supported by IDAS.
